SKINBASE MICRODERMABRASION

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that uses fine crystals and a vacuum to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells from the outer layer. Although microdermabrasion is most well known as a facial treatment, it can be used on most areas of your body such as your face, neck, chest, back and hands, if they require exfoliation. This safe procedure is designed to reduce fine lines, minor scars, wrinkles, sun damage and age spots to make your skin smoother and younger looking.

The treatment uses a stream of non-allergenic crystals (crystal microdermabrasion) to remove your skin’s outermost layers of dead cells. Your therapist will use a handheld device to direct the stream of crystal over the treatment area and, where necessary, target specific zones. The handset then uses a mild suction to draw away the crystal and skin debris to reveal your new and improved complexion.

Microdermabrasion removes the top layers of the skin called the stratum corneum. Similarly to brushing your teeth, microdermabrasion helps to remove the debris from your skin. Human skin regenerates at 30 day intervals and regular microdermabrasion treatments performed every 7-10 days (which is what we recommend during a course of treatment) will ensure continued improvement for your skin concerns.

The SkinBase™ Facial is chemical free and non-invasive yet achieves amazing results revealing younger, healthier looking skin from the very first treatment. The skin’s appearance is further improved through increased collagen & elastin production as your body produces a new layer of skin.

No recovery time is required after having microdermabrasion and most people return to daily activity immediately following a session.

Microdermabrasion for Keratosis Pilaris

Keratosis Pilaris commonly affecting the backs of the arms and the legs. These tiny little bumps form when too much keratin builds up in the skin’s hair follicles. This gives skin a bumpy texture as it blocks the pore where the hair would normally appear.  Microdermabrasion removes off dead skin cells and unblock pores thus helping to remove the build up of keratin. The hair follicle is cleared of debris leaving skin smooth and clear.
